With a background in literary studies and a decade teaching English in UK and international schools, I now tutor A-Level English Literature full-time. I focus on supporting students working with AQA and Edexcel, especially those studying poetry, drama, and gothic fiction. I’ve helped students improve essay structure, analytical depth, and confidence with unseen texts.

After completing my undergraduate degree at Oxford and later a PhD in English Literature, I’ve taught in both UK secondary schools and university departments. I specialise in A-Level English Literature, focusing on helping students build sharp, original arguments and write with precision. My background in academic writing and assessment has helped many students push their essays into A* territory.

My background in English and Theatre has shaped the way I approach literature through voice, emotion, and intent. I’ve spent years helping A-Level English Literature students decode poetry, prose, and drama, with a particular interest in contemporary plays and Shakespeare. I focus on close reading and developing sharp essay arguments that help students stand out.

With a strong academic background in English and Theatre Studies and extensive classroom experience, I specialise in helping A-Level students master literature across genres—from Shakespeare to postcolonial fiction. My work includes tutoring international students, supporting learners with SEND, and offering feedback on coursework drafts. I’ve also trained as a wellbeing coach and previously taught in both mainstream and alternative schools, which has given me a broad understanding of how different students learn best.

Literature has always been central to my life both as a university lecturer and as a personal tutor. I’ve taught everything from Romantic poetry to Modernist prose, but Shakespeare remains a favourite. Over the years, I’ve helped sixth formers sharpen essays, decode complex texts, and grow confident with literary criticism. When not tutoring, I work on theatre scripts and spend weekends volunteering at a local archive.

After graduating with first-class honours in English Literature, I’ve spent the last few years tutoring A-Level students across AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. I focus on building essay confidence and helping students unlock deeper meaning in texts from Shakespeare to Duffy. Outside of teaching, I’m a freelance editor and an avid reader of postmodern fiction and poetry.

I studied Comparative Literature with a focus on modern poetry and Gothic fiction, which led me into tutoring A-Level English Literature. I’ve supported students working on Edexcel and AQA texts, including everything from Othello to The Handmaid’s Tale. I’m especially interested in helping students sharpen their essay writing and feel confident with critical analysis.
